Pen on paper--Oops, I mean fingers on keyboard

Recently, Shannon has been spending some of her free time writing her own version of a favorite book. She's allowed me to read it. What a joy to have one of my kids writing for fun! And it is fun. Now, I know most of you guys write/blog some journal stuff. And that is wonderful. I love to read it and love to view the pictures. It's important, funny, and clever. But it tickles me to have somebody writing fiction. So, here is your chance. We're going to have a "story-go-round" like the old travel game we used to play. Here's the beginning:
Savannah knew that if she could just find the exit, she would be safe.

Unfortunately, because Savannah was only able to make left turns down the twisting hallways and rooms of the old mansion, finding the exit, and being able to go through it, were going to be a challenge.

Nevertheless, she had to get out in order to get to the old oak tree and speak the words that would end the spell that was making the endless midnight, with all its horrid consequences.

Several hours later, after several dozen left turns, some clever planning, and a break to feed the always chattering armadillo, Savannah was able, at last, to break out into the perpetual night. Savannah felt a moment of jubilation as she rounded the corner of the old house where she knew the shifting tree had last been seen. To her horror, the oak was there, but was ablaze.

She said a prayer and rain poured down from heaven, putting out the blaze and leaving a scalded, yet still alive tree. She ran over, jumping over the stupid armadillo and spoke the magic words. Dawn finally appeared and all was well. The End

Stupid armadillo? Stupid?

How dare you.
